David is in the final stages of planning for his next 100klm walk from Lismore to Ballina, then following the coast, heading north to the Queensland border.
This walk follows his walk last year from two memorials to David G. Stead, Wirrimbirra to Mt Stead, above the historic Blue Gum forest of the Grose Valley. This next walk will hope to bring attention to conservation efforts in the northern NSW, effects of climate change, coastal erosion/inundation and some of the local people shaping environmental conservation.
The theme for this year is 2 degrees and rising seas. With gloabl leaders committing to hold climate temperature rise to two degrees above pre-industrialised temperatures, what does this mean for coastal communities and ecosystems. David will also be raising money for the annual Stead scholarship - a annual $2,000 prize to a TAFE student studying in aspects of environment conservation.
